Apps are used for practically everything today, from games and grocery delivery to shopping for a new home and beyond.
While the number of apps can sometimes seem overwhelming for consumers, the space provides lucrative business for app developers and companies. Recode’s data app measurement company App Annie recently released a forecast report detailing the projected future of the app industry.
Here are the numbers:
$6.3 trillion | Worth of app economy by 2021 (currently worth about $1.3 trillion)
6.3 billion | Global app usership within the next five years
$1,008 | Average that the amount spent on apps is predicted to increase to by 2021
90 percent | Portion of app economy driven by eCommerce in 2016
10 percent | Portion of app economy made up by buying apps, making in-app purchases and advertising revenue
