This article briefly reviews the role of economists appearing before the Competition Tribunal and how the Tribunal hears economic evidence. The Tribunal is a specialist first instance inquisitorial body, whose members include both lawyers and economists. We also discuss some problems that can impede adequate judicial review of economic evidence and then discuss two cases where the Competition Appeal Court and the Constitutional Court have been called upon to consider economic evidence.
