The utilization and acceptance of artificial intelligence (AI) have experienced a significant rise in recent years. AI, which encompasses the use of AI in analyzing large data sets (Big Data) and machine learning (ML), including ML operations and deep learning, has transitioned from being a topic confined to business and academic circles to becoming a common subject in everyday conversations. It is now frequently featured in news cycles and dominates the social media presence of professionals.
Generative AI models like ChatGPT have played a crucial role in normalizing AI as part of everyday language. These models have found practical applications in various knowledge-worker contexts and have been embraced by educators and students. Despite a decrease in global AI investment from 2021 to 2022, the investment still exceeds the spending in 2020, following the trend of previous years’ growth. Interestingly, the private sector is now outpacing academia in AI model development, while government investment in AI is expected to continue rising.
