The tech juggernaut may have taken awhile to get there, but Microsoft is on the edge of rolling out its operating system, Windows 10 Mobile. As reported by International Business Times, this summer will see the unveiling of a new app through the new software anniversary update known as Redstone 1.
The new app, according to the site, will be Wallet 2.0, which will debut along with NFC Tap to Pay. The duo will bow with the anniversary update and will work with credit or debit cards and also membership and loyalty cards.
The site said that the Tap to Pay functionality is thus far limited to the United States, while the Wallet 2.0 payments are able to be facilitated across a number of merchants, such as AAA, Walgreens and YMCA, among others.
The software update has been stated to embrace Lumia devices that have been running Windows 8.1. When the app is launched, cards that have been imported to the Microsoft account will be imported into the Tap to Pay platform.
PhoneArena reported that new cards can be added manually, with a form to be filled out or through a process that would scan the cards through an app. The verification, the site said, comes through an SMS code.
