Furthering its involvement with nonfungible tokens (NFTs), Twitter is testing a feature that will expand links to NFTs to display a preview.
The social media service said Thursday (Oct. 27) in a tweet that with this feature called NFT Tweet Tiles, some links to NFTs on select digital goods marketplaces “will now show you a larger picture of the NFT alongside details like the title and creator. One more step in our journey to let developers impact the Tweet experience.”
This feature would enable users to showcase NFT art at no cost, Social Media Today reported Thursday (Oct. 27).
It could also help Twitter better embed itself in the discussions and the community of enthusiasts around that have grown around NFTs and Web3, the report said.
The NFT Tweet Tiles are similar to another feature that is being tested by Twitter that provides link previews for select publications, including larger images and a prominent call to action (CTA), according to the report.
Twitter rolled out another NFT-related feature in January with its debut of an official verification protocol for NFT profile pictures.
As PYMNTS reported at the time, this feature allowed select users to link their ethereum wallets with their Twitter accounts, see a list of the NFTs they own and then select one of those images as their profile picture.
Those profile pictures came with a special hexagonal border so that while other users could right-click or otherwise save the image, only the NFT owner would have access to the border that identifies them as the owner.
In related news, Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao confirmed to CoinDesk Thursday that the world’s largest crypto exchange had kicked in the $500 million in May that made it an equity player in Twitter.
“We aim to play a role in bringing social media and Web3 together in order to broaden the use and adoption of crypto and blockchain technology,” Zhang said, per the report.
