Real-Time Payments Expand With $10 Million Transactions and Digital Wallet Growth

Real-Time Payments World Map - March 2025

Higher transaction limits, digital wallet integrations and infrastructure upgrades are accelerating real-time payments adoption. The latest “Real-Time Payments World Map,” a collaboration with The Clearing House, explores how instant payments are transforming global finance — from a record-breaking $10 million corporate transaction to a new peer-to-peer payment feature on a leading social media platform.

Inside the March Map
  • The Clearing House’s RTP® network in February facilitated the largest instant payment in the United States: a $10 million intercompany liquidity management transfer executed by BNY (formerly Bank of New York Mellon).
  • FinTech FIS announced in February its certification to enable send capabilities on the FedNow® Service, allowing the company to support the full payments life cycle on the Federal Reserve’s real-time payments rail for its partner banks.
  • In Brazil, the Pix instant payment network is set to launch a recurring payments feature called Pix Automático in June, enabling users to automate payments for utilities, streaming services and other recurring bills.
