Digital security leader Oberthur Technologies announced the launch of Smart Premiere, a line of luxury payment cards geared toward affluent customers, in a press release issued Monday (May 11).
The new card line will allow banks to develop “tailor-made” cards — with options of titanium, gold or full metal cards, and also “shaped” cards that could be made in conjunction with car manufacturers or other luxury brands. The cards offer the same functionality as standard payment cards.
Oberthur is debuting the cards this week at the Cards and Payments Middle East 2015 event in Dubai on May 12 and 13.
“With Smart Premiere, we have designed a value-added offer to help banks meet their most challenging customers’ needs with high-end products and build specific offers for each customer category,” said Eric Duforest, Oberthur’s managing director of the payment business unit. “This strengthens our ability to supply them with turnkey solutions to be their long-term privileged partner.”
Outside of its new product launch, Oberthur has proven to be an active participant in the discussion of EMV implementation in the U.S., which most recently was projected for a “close to complete” adoption by 2017.
