Perfect Corp. Partners With QVC For First AR Shopping Experience

Perfect Corp. has teamed up with QVC on the first broadcast television AR purchase experience that will merge mobile AR technologies, broadcast and mobile to create a fully immersive beauty shopping experience.

According to a press release, QVC has collaborated with YouCam Makeup to launch real-time virtual try-ons for a special selection of Laura Geller New York beauty products that will be featured as QVC’s Today’s Special Value on Aug. 22. The one-tap try-ons allow viewers to virtually test products directly from their mobile device, exploring color options and finishes in seconds.

“QVC has a longstanding history of bringing beauty products to life by leveraging the best storytellers and innovators behind our prestige brands. Our customer guides us to where and how she wants to engage with our brands and through this collaboration with YouCam Makeup we are introducing a new way to experience Laura Geller New York products like never before,” said Ellen Lennon, director of beauty merchandising for QVC. “Customers will have the ability to virtually try on full makeup looks from day to night created by Laura Geller herself to find the perfect colors and shades for them. YouCam Makeup is changing the way people shop for beauty by providing the mobile “try before you buy’ experience, and we are excited to bring this to our customers for the very first time.”

YouCam Makeup’s award-winning technologies take into account skin tone matching and a variety of textures so shoppers can truly experience the finishes of the products, making it an instant, easy, and mess-free way to try before you buy.

“This unique collaboration with QVC is reinventing the beauty shopping experience by giving beauty lovers the chance to try featured products before committing to a purchase,” says Perfect Corp. CEO Alice Chang. “YouCam Makeup strives to push the boundaries of innovation and continues to solve and serve all of our beauty customer and brand needs. We addressed what can be a common pain point of home shopping — return rates — and introduced a virtual trial experience to ensure shoppers could feel confident in their purchase decisions.”

Mobile shopping has become a popular resource for QVC customers. The company saw sales being made via mobile increase from 51.6 percent in 2015 to nearly 60 percent in 2016. For the entire year’s sales, mobile sales increased to 58.4 percent, up from 50.4 percent in 2015.

Customers can tune in to QVC’s first broadcast television AR experience premiering Aug. 22, beginning at midnight for a collection of Laura Geller New York cosmetics at a special price. Viewers can text “QVC” to 20800 to receive an instant free YouCam Makeup download link for easy mobile trials of all the featured products, or simply visit QVC.com for a link to download the app.
