Amsterdam payments platform Mollie is teaming up with Eindhoven-based buy now, pay later (BNPL) firm in3 to offer interest-free installments across the Netherlands.
“Shoppers don’t always have the available funds to pay for what they want when they need it. BNPL can increase conversion rates and the average order value of purchases by allowing for more flexibility,” Mollie CCO Ken Serdons said in a Wednesday (May 18) press release.

Working with in3 will give Mollie customers access to an “alternative interest-free BNPL payment method with a guaranteed payout,” he said.
“Additionally, in3 also highly values the importance of localization when it comes to payments, which is a key and core value of Mollie,” Serdons added.
BNPL payments are offered by in3 via the Dutch payment method iDEAL, which facilitates direct online transfers from consumers’ bank accounts.
Dutch startup in3 recently raised $85.3 million in a Series B funding round following its $11.1 million series A round in March. Founded in 2018 by CEO Hans Langenhuizen, in3 provides more than 1,500 online and offline merchants with BNPL payment solutions.

Mollie supports over 130,000 merchants in selling and growing their business online and offers a payment API.
For its part, in3 offers payments in three installments without interest or other costs and works with clients such as Kwik Fit, EP, La Souris, Matt sleeps, Dekbed-Discounter and others.
As partners, the companies are exploring future expansion to Germany and other European countries to help meet the growing demand for BNPL products for both consumers and businesses.

Langenhuizen said in3 is looking forward to offering Mollie’s customers an alternative BNPL solution.
“Not only does Mollie share a lot of similar core values with us, but it also processes a large share of the online payments traffic in the Netherlands, so it is a very important partner for us strategically. We have already received dozens of requests from Mollie’s customers who are keen to offer in3 — a simple and flexible solution,” he said.
