After taking a hard look at publicly available information plus app usage data to which we have access, PYMNTS assigns a score to each app. This is done each month, and then we release the Provider Ranking of Credit Card Apps.
This time, the leader increases its score to 100, a mover and shaker joins the top 10 after adding eight points to its score, and the rest of the field sees only a few minor changes.
The Top Five
Still holding the top spot in the rankings is Capital One Mobile. This time, the app has upped its score to 100.
Retaining the runner-up position is Chase Mobile. It’s seven points behind with a score of 93.
Close behind that, and running third as it did last time, is Bank of America Mobile Banking. This app has achieved a score of 91.
Also retaining the position it had last time is Wells Fargo Mobile. This app is No. 4 with a score of 88.
Continuing the trend, Discover Mobile holds the same spot in the rankings as last time. It’s ranked fifth with a score of 84.
The Top 10
In the first change of position since last month, American Express has moved up one spot and now rests at No. 6. It has a score of 79 — two points higher than last time.
Bumped out of that spot and now ranked seventh is Credit One Bank Mobile. This app has a score of 78.
Next up is an app that wasn’t in the top 10 last month. PREMIER Credit Card joins the list at No. 8. With a score of 56 that’s eight points higher than last time, this app is also this month’s biggest mover and shaker.
Dislodged from that spot and dropping one level to ninth is MySynchrony. It’s just three points back with a score of 53.
Only one point behind that is Cards — Mobile Wallet. With a score of 52, it has slipped one level and is now ranked tenth — closing out the top 10 of this month’s Provider Ranking of Credit Card Apps.
