Paymentus announced the validation of its Paymentus Patient Billing and Payments stack through the Oracle Health developer program.
This validation allows Paymentus to connect to the Oracle Health electronic health record (EHR) and supply healthcare providers with advanced billing, payment and disbursement capabilities, the companies said in a Wednesday (Sept. 13) press release.
The integration of Paymentus with Oracle Health enables the solution to be provided to healthcare systems, hospitals and providers, according to the release.
“Having our platform validated and regression tested within the Oracle healthcare ecosystem means that providers can feel confident adopting our billing and payments solutions to meet the increasingly high bar of customer service expectations,” Paymentus founder and CEO Dushyant Sharma said in the release.
Paymentus’ billing, payment management and customer communications platform helps healthcare providers meet consumers’ expectations by providing a “billing and payment experience that emphasizes patient choice, convenience and payment optionality,” according to the press release.
One of the advantages of Paymentus’ platform is the number of payment methods and channels it supports, the release said. The company enables online, mobile, interactive voice response (IVR), text, kiosk, point of sale and agent-assisted payments, so patients have multiple options.
Additionally, Paymentus can disburse money through the same payment channels, reducing the need for disbursements via check and minimizing associated risks, per the release.
“Our goal is to help create an open, interoperable healthcare ecosystem that works better for everyone,” Jake Engle, senior director of the code developer program at Oracle Health, said in the release. “Encouraging innovators like Paymentus to develop solutions and applications that work across existing health records supports that goal by helping improve the patient experience and ease the administrative burden for caregivers and staff.”
Simplifying the payments process for consumers and reducing process bottlenecks like providing multiple details are top priorities for payment offerings, Ron Bergamesca, general manager of banking and FinTech solutions at Paymentus, told PYMNTS in an interview posted in August.
“You only want to burden the consumer with four asks: amount, account, recipient and receipt,” Bergamesca said.
