It was such a good idea that people are now customizing the concept. We’ve got “fly now, pay later,” “try now, pay later,” and, for couples breaking up with bills remaining to pay off from that finished relationship, someone may eventually come up with “cry now, pay later.”
In this space, we deal only in PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Buy Now, Pay Later Apps.
With all the changes since last month, we’re thinking of a “pay now, work later” app, but until the time that such a thing comes into existence, let’s stick to real ones that rank.
Plenty to talk about. Lots of movement.
The Top 5
Taking it from the top, Klarna now has company at No. 1, as the Affirm app moves to tie.
At No. 2, Afterpay leads a pack of gainers in the Top 5 this cycle.
The Zip (formerly Quadpay) BNPL app moves up to No. 3.
Not entirely out of the blue but always a stunner when it happens, we’ve got not one, but two new entrants to the Top 5.
PayPal-owned Paidy leaps up two chart positions to take No. 4.
At the threshold — No. 5 — it’s the Sezzle app, also up two spots and now in the Top 5.
The view from the Top 5 VIP Suite is amazing, by the way. Totally worth it.
The Top 10
Below the Top 5 line, there’s still plenty of action this cycle.
The Laybuy app jumps up two chart positions to take No. 6.
Tumbling two spots to No. 7 from last month, it’s the FuturePay app.
Nothing lazy about the LazyPay BNPL app rising two chart positions in one month. Well done.
Unmoved from its perch at No. 9 is the interest-free Humm app.
We close this edition of PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Buy Now, Pay Later Apps with a returning name, the Brighte app, coming back into the Top 10 at No. 10.
That’s a BNPL wrap. Read now, talk later.
