The new start-up will offer an online marketplace for free second-hand items.
Yerdle, an online marketplace where people can give and get used items for free, has just raised $5 million in new venture funding, according to SFGate.
The goal of Yerdle is to extend the lifespan of consumer products, which would result in the reduction of landfills and junkyards.
“Access trumps ownership for goods, services and talent,” said Lisa Gansky, founder of consulting firm Mesh Labs told SFGate. “Essentially, Yerdle aspires to connect the closets and garages of the world to a platform. It lets people circulate all those things sitting around and creates a way to have serial ownership.”
In order to generate revenue, the start-up plans to offer users an option to gain and buy credits when they give away their stuff.
