Fandango is celebrating the addition of Android Pay at checkout with a special discount for moviegoers this month.
According to news from 9to5Google, Google regularly works with partners to offer up deals for Android Pay users, such as first free delivery or discounts on their orders, as an incentive to use the service.
This month, Fandango and Google are offering a promo code that gives anyone using Android Pay a $3 discount on any movie ticket(s) — just in time to catch some of this summer’s blockbusters.
Fandango is now available at Google Play. While the movie ticketing site already offers checkout with a credit card or through PayPal, Android Pay is generally easier to use. Once a card is added, users never have to sign in or re-enter that number. Instead, they simply authenticate with their fingerprint to pay at the checkout line or within an app. There is no waiting around for options, such as PayPal, which can take a minute to connect to the site.
Last year, Fandango also tried out allowing consumers to purchase movie tickets via Facebook, as well as letting users of Apple’s iPhone messaging app to buy tickets without leaving a text conversation. The site is facing competition from startup Atom Tickets, which enables people to easily plan group outings with friends to the movies via the Atom app. Users can place concession stand pre-orders, as well as get discounts for less popular movie times.
For those who want to take advantage of the $3 discount this month, simply use the promo code AndroidPay1 at checkout to apply it to your order. The current code works until July 5, but new codes will be coming each week after that. Simply check back on the Android Pay promotions site for the latest codes.
