Instacart, the online grocery delivery platform, has partnered with Lowe’s to pilot same-day delivery, a company blog from Instacart said Wednesday (Feb. 23).
That will let customers have around 20,000 items from Lowe’s delivered, including small home appliances, building supplies, light fixtures and garden and outdoor materials.
The service will be initially available in Boston and Charlotte, North Carolina, and expand in the next few months.
Lowe’s is the first home improvement outlet available on Instacart.
“Demand for home improvement essentials on our platform grew by more than 50% in 2021 compared to 2020,” said Chris Rogers, vice president of retail at Instacart.
Lowe’s senior vice president of online, Mike Shady, said it was important to have the omnichannel strategy incorporating online sales. He said the combination of Lowe’s with Instacart “offers a new, convenient way to shop.”
“As we explore a suite of solutions to meet our customers’ same-day and next-day delivery needs, this partnership is enhancing the customer experience and providing the choices today’s customers demand,” he said, according to the blog.
