Delivery software solution VROMO, which works in the restaurant sector, is partnering with payments company Square to allow more companies to utilize VROMO’s delivery and third-party fleet options, the company announced Saturday (May 21).
VROMO’s work automates delivery management and features things like driver ETA, order stacking, branded order tracking and messaging for drivers and customers. The software makes it so restaurants operate at the best possible efficiency, according to the press release.
In addition, the software solution includes an overflow feature, letting deliveries be redirected to third-party drivers when the regular team is not available. The point is to help out restaurants that are struggling with driver capacity, particularly at peak times.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Square and really looking forward to helping their partner restaurants strengthen their delivery operations,” VROMO CEO Brian Hickey said. “The VROMO mission is to help restaurant brands make their delivery channel more profitable and we do this by offering a range of 3rd party delivery options and software that automates, drives efficiency, and optimizes the customer experience.
“We’re excited to work with the Square team and play our part in bringing even more value to their partner restaurants.”
Square has been making some changes as of late and seems to be honing in on restaurant tech, having recently partnered with SoundHound, a conversational artificial intelligence (AI) company, PYMNTS wrote.

This comes as restaurants have been seeing more difficulties due to the pandemic and ensuing economic troubles, leading to more ResTech solutions coming to the forefront. This development will add an integration for call-in orders fielded by SoundHound’s voice assistant into Square’s point of sale (POS) system.
Phone ordering automation is one way that restaurants have been using speech recognition AI, with some brands using it at drive-thru locations to help take more orders.
