Payment and banking solutions technology provider ACI Worldwide said on Wednesday (March 16) that it is linking up with Verifone, which provides payments and commerce solutions, to deliver what the two firms said is a “comprehensive pan-European card payments platform” tailored to Auchan Group, which is among the biggest food retailers in Europe.
In a release issued by the two companies, it was noted that Auchan already relies on ACI’s omnichannel UP Retailer Payments solution, which underpins the food giant’s cross-border payments strategy. The expanded relationship will bring ACI’s solution to bear with Verifone VX 820 PIN pads and will also feature a “Payment-as-a-Service provision” that will help manage both card and non-card transactions.
The combined platform is slated to go live later in the year and will be rolled out across all Auchan stores located throughout France.
In terms of standards, the platform will be compliant across nexo standards, which are tied to unified card payments standards that seek to further interoperability across countries.
In a statement that accompanies the release detailing the partnership, Verifone’s Jean-Philippe Niedergang, vice president and general manager of Southern Europe operations, said: “At Verifone, our focus is on delivering simple and secure payment solutions that improve consumer engagement at the point of sale, allowing retailers like Auchan to sell more and grow.”
“Our proven Payment-as-a-Service platform is already used by some of the biggest brands in France, and there are over 3.5 million VX 820 PIN pads installed globally. Verifone will provide deployment and maintenance services for Auchan to ensure its business is always on, and our collaboration with ACI means this innovative retailer will have a complete end-to-end solution that manages all types of payment and non-payment transactions, delivering a great shopping experience.”
