myPOS announced that it will open a store in Milan, Italy this week, its fourth brick-and-mortar location in Europe.
This will be the company’s first location in Italy as it works to establish its physical presence in Europe. So far this year, myPOS has opened stores in London, Amsterdam and Sofia—and there are plans to establish locations in Zurich and Barcelona before the end of 2018.
Launched in 2014, myPOS aims to make it easier and more affordable for merchants to access the payment methods their customers most want to use. The company is authorized and regulated by London’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an electronic money institution, working to give small and medium-sized businesses an affordable way of receiving card payments.
The company offers an all-in-one package that includes a smart POS device, a free myPOS account with myPOS Business Visa debit card and a variety of merchant services for the business’ physical and online storefronts.
The Milan store, located on Corso Europa 11, close to Basilica di San Carlo al Corso and the Milan Cathedral, will operate like its sister sites, showcasing the company’s assortment of smart POS terminals and other payment solutions.
“It is our belief that the closer we are to our clients, the more we’ll be able to help them – and it doesn’t get any closer than physical locations staffed by people you can interact with in person,” myPOS Founder Christo Georgiev said in a press release. “If customers like to visit mobile phone shops and TV showrooms before they make a purchase, why shouldn’t this be applied to POS terminals, too?”
Last month, myPOS COO Andrew Byrne spoke to PYMNTS’ Karen Webster, explaining that in order to dethrone cash as king for smaller merchants, digital payments need to be able to both deliver the benefits cash brings and then expand upon them.
“Offering a variety of payment options is crucial for our business, as most customers are technologically-savvy and are looking for the most convenient ways to book and pay,” said Michael O’Brien, director of City Pads London. “myPOS gave us the opportunity to accept distant and in-person payments, without the burden of subscription fees and binding contracts. In addition, we got access to free online banking and lots of additional services.”
