European payments provider myPOS announced that it has opened a store in Antwerp, Belgium.
The move comes four years after the company introduced its omnichannel payment solution for small businesses in the country.
“We are very pleased to be offering Belgian SMEs and independent professionals a reliable, modern and flexible alternative to the existing business payment solutions,” Christo Georgiev, founder of myPOS, said in a press release. “With it, they can accept not only all popular credit and debit cards, but also Belgium’s favorite payment method — Bancontact Payconiq — at special rates.”
myPOS offers freelancers, solo merchants and SMEs a solution to accept and process electronic payments. The myPOS package includes a mobile POS device, free myPOS account with business VISA card and access to additional merchant services.
The multifunctional POS terminals are available at affordable prices (from € 29 to € 349), and the solution provides a free multi-currency account combined with a business debit card. Most importantly, it boasts real-time transaction processing, which makes payments instantly available.
The first myPOS store in Belgium will be both a showcase and a point of contact for local customers and partners where they can find support, the latest payment innovations available and a variety of services.
“Antwerp confirms its position as the epicenter of business and investment in Flanders. It is therefore logical for myPOS to be operational in this exciting city, where, historically, we have had customers since 2015,” Irfan Rasmally, myPOS executive director, said in a press release.
Taxi drivers have been a massive vertical for myPOS, according to COO Andrew Byrne in an interview last year with PYMNTS, because their alternative to taking credit cards involves a piece of equipment for which they have to pay a monthly fee.
“Traditional POS is too expensive for most small businesses, and they are getting charged a lot per month. So we say they can have our device too, and pay as they go. If you have our machine in your cab and you do three or four fares and go home, that’s fine. You aren’t paying every month for the terminal; you aren’t on a fixed contract.”
