Midwestern grocery chain Hy-Vee, Inc. has brought DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse “shop-in-shops” to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. The inaugural locations opened at the grocer’s Eagan and Brooklyn Park supermarkets, while four additional stores are slated to open in the two weeks to come, according to an announcement.
“By combining in-store and online shopping experiences together with DSW, we are able to meet the unique needs of every shopper and make the shopping experience — whether in-store, online or both, seamless,” Hy-Vee Chairman, President and CEO Randy Edeker said in the announcement.
The new shop-in-shops showcase shoe merchandise for women, children and men. Shoppers can test out shoes and choose from different brands ranging from fashion to athletic labels in the shop-in-shop locations. Some of the shops will have DSW pickup lockers, while let shoppers buy from the footwear retailer’s website and have their order sent to the shop.
Every shop-in-shop also contains a digital showroom wall that shows 100 of the “top trending shoes of the season,” according to the release. Shoppers can buy the shoes through a quick-response (QR) code from the DSW website and have them sent to their residence or a pickup locker. Shoppers can also use their VIP rewards and promotions at the shop-in-shops.
Hy-Vee, Inc. says it runs over 275 retail locations throughout eight states with sales of $10 billion each year.
Beyond the Eagan and Brooklyn Park Hy-Vee locations, shop-in-shops are slated to open in Cottage Grove on Sept. 25, Lakeville on Sept. 25, Savage on Oct. 2 and Shakopee on Oct. 2.
The grocery retailer intends to open “several more shop-in-shop locations across its eight-state region in 2021,” according to the announcement.
In separate footwear news, Foot Locker Inc. has opened what it refers to as a “Power Store” in California. The 12,800-square-foot space was meant to offer a “home grown” retail experience and offers a curbside pickup window.
