Worldline has entered into a commercial partnership with open banking specialist Neonomics, the French-based global payments firm announced in a press release on Monday (Nov 21).
Although Worldline is already an established player in European open banking, offering its services to merchants, banks and FinTechs across the continent, the new partnership will allow it to expand its account-to-account payments and data aggregation coverage to the Nordic region including Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland, the company said.
With its open banking solutions, Worldline enables connectivity to banks across Europe without having to connect to each one’s application programming interface (API) individually. As well as allowing its merchant clients to enable account-to-account payments, Worldline also provides technology to banks like UniCredit.

For its part, Neonomics’ API platform unifies access to over 2,500 banks with a combined 150 million customers across Europe, per the release.
The link-up puts the two prominent European open banking companies on track to become “the first pan-European pure PSD2 API providers,” with a combined reach of 3,500 banks in 22 countries across Europe, according to the announcement.
Neonomics has “one of the most robust unified bank API platforms, with a technical set-up that supports our need to work with partners that can offer highly secure services in both today’s and tomorrow’s regulatory environment,” Worldline Head of Global Business Line Financial Services Michael Steinbach said in the announcement.
“By working together, we can make open banking an even more pan-European offering that helps to streamline payments and enables access to banking account data,” he added.
Neonomics CEO Christoffer Andvigmsadi said, “We are very proud to partner with Worldline to expand the significant benefits of open banking much further across Europe, to spur the growth of account-to-account payments and to continue driving innovation on the data side through Worldline’s strong position as a preferred partner to many industry-leading companies.”
