Online Game Platform Voidu Taps Worldline to Provide Payment Services

Online game distribution platform Voidu has tapped Worldline to provide payment services.

The new partnership will see Wordline handle payments for Voidu’s online gaming platform, which can be used to purchase PC games and add-ons from popular studios including Ubisoft and Steam, according to a Tuesday (Jan. 10) press release.

Voidu is owned and operated by Azerion, a pan-European digital gaming and monetization company.

“The Gaming and Media sector is growing exponentially and Worldline is excited to be at the forefront of this dynamic sector,” Worldline Global Head of Gaming and Media, Digital Commerce Andrew Monroe said in the announcement. “We are also delighted to have been selected to assist Voidu in achieving its unique and critical payment solutions requirements and objectives.”

Voidu Product Director of eCommerce in Gaming Production Cem Temur added, “Gaming is getting into each and every corner of the world, from young people to older generations. Worldline’s one-stop-shop solution has enabled Voidu to bring interesting content, and games to reach many more new prospect markets. With the wide variety of payment options, we hope to be able to bring games to even more new gamers, and players out there.”

The latest partnership comes as competition is heating up in the market for gaming payment services.

As the industry has evolved from a business model built around selling physical disks in retail outlets to one dominated by instant online purchases and recurring revenue streams, new challenges and opportunities have arisen. With pay-to-play and subscription gaming models increasing the demand for frictionless, embedded payment solutions, the industry is now at the forefront of digital payment trends.

Besides Worldline, other payment technology companies like Adyen and Checkout.com are increasingly marketing their services to businesses that need flexible digital solutions that can process multiple payment types and methods across different devices.

What’s more, firms such as Netflix are increasingly getting involved in the space and looking to further disrupt the way people pay and play.
