Predictability is a good thing in payroll, and it seems to be what people prefer in payroll apps, too. In the latest edition of PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Payroll Apps, eight contenders hold the same position they held last month.
Three contenders have moved up in the rankings, including one that is new to the top 10. None of the apps have dropped in the rankings. How can that be? There’s a tie score — two contenders are sharing one of the positions.
Let’s take a closer look.
The Top Five
In the top spot, we again have Paychex Flex, which tops the charts with a score of 100.
Right behind, with a score of 98, there’s Paycor. This app holds the second ranking, as it did last month.
Also holding its spot in the race is Alliance MyPay, ranked third.
The first move recorded this month is a substantial one, with QuickBooks Payroll jumping up two spots from last time and taking the No. 4 position. It shares that honor with Zenefits, which held this spot last month too.
Returning to stability, and closing out the top five, we find Square Payroll in the No. 5 spot as it was last time.
The Top 10
Heading into the second tier, though, we have a big change. Rippling has leapt from the tenth position last time to No. 6. This app added 10 points to its previous score — that’s one way to move up in the rankings.
Ranked seventh, as it was last time, is TriNet.
Also holding its previous position is RUN Powered By ADP. It’s sitting at No. 8 as it was last month.
There’s another repeat performance at No. 9, where we again find Payrollguru.
Lastly, there’s a new member of this elite group, as SurePayroll earns the No. 10 spot. It’s a leading provider of online payroll and related services, so let’s welcome it to this month’s top 10 in the Provider Ranking of Payroll Apps.
