PayPal has named former Cash App and Afterpay marketing leader Geoff Seeley as its new chief marketing officer.
Seeley will lead the global marketing team for PayPal and its family of brands, including Venmo, beginning Monday (Feb. 26), the company said in a Monday press release.
“Geoff has a rich and impressive background leading marketing teams and building brands across some of the biggest global companies,” Diego Scotti, executive vice president and general manager, consumer group and global marketing and communications at PayPal, said in the release.
Seeley has over 25 years of experience in global brand, digital and performance marketing, according to the release.
In his most recent role, he served as global chief marketing officer and communication officer at CashApp and Afterpay, the release said.
Before that, Seeley worked with Airbnb and Unilever, where he played key roles in brand marketing and communications planning, per the release. At Unilever, he focused on bringing new marketing models and technology to legacy brands.
In his new role, Seeley will focus on enhancing the value propositions of PayPal and Venmo, ensuring they are clear, compelling and simple for customers, according to the release.
“He will also focus on bringing new energy to the PayPal and Venmo brands by leveraging the company’s innovative history, powerful product portfolio and continuing to build on customer trust,” the press release said.
Seeley wrote in a post on LinkedIn: “Beyond excited to share I’ll be joining the incredible new leadership team at PayPal soon as chief marketing officer.”
PayPal named longtime Intuit executive Alex Chriss as its new president and CEO in August 2023, following a months-long search for a successor to Dan Schulman, who joined PayPal in 2014 and led it since it separated from eBay and became an independent public company.
In November 2023, PayPal named three new executives and divided its business into three new units.
“We are redesigning PayPal with our customers at the center and creating an environment that unleashes our teams to move with speed and build the best possible products and experiences to meet their needs,” Chriss said at the time.
