Digital payments company PayPal is offering customers who pay or donate through PayPal the random opportunity to win $10,000 every week, in addition to thousands of other prizes, according to a Monday (Nov. 1) press release from the company. The cash and prize sweepstakes are open to current customers in the U.S., France, Germany and the U.K., and continues each week through Dec. 19.
To qualify, customers must spend $10 or more on purchases or donations to be entered into the drawing, according to the announcement. Prizes range from $25 to $250 to use on future purchases or donations through PayPal. Prizes must be spent by Dec. 31.
Each week, the company will award a cash prize of $10,000 to a select number of shoppers; that prize does not have an expiration date, according to the release.
In all, PayPal will award $30 million as part of the sweepstakes.
“We know that every little bit helps, and over the next six weeks in the lead-up to the holidays, we’re excited to be giving back to our loyal customers as they navigate their holiday shopping, helping with gift purchases and donations to support causes they care about,” said Bob Rupczynski, VP of consumer marketing at PayPal.
“This year’s holiday shopping season is set to be one of the biggest yet, and PayPal is here to ensure that our customers can check out safely and securely, with the added benefit of winning rewards or cash prizes to bring joy to their holiday shopping,” he said.
The PayPal network of merchants and charitable organizations that accept its payments continues to grow exponentially. According to PYMNTS, PayPal’s network encompasses more than 32 million merchants and more than 400 million users.

As an added advantage to shopping this holiday season, PayPal users have the option to spread out their payments in four equal installments as part of the company’s buy now, pay later (BNPL) offering, according to PYMNTS. Based on PYMNTS data from a holiday shopping outlook survey of 3,650 shoppers, BNPL is expected to account for a larger percentage of shopping — 3% in 2021 as compared to 1.6% in 2020.
