Cazoo, which calls itself “Europe’s leading online car retailer,” is adding Italy to the list of countries in which it operates.
The company announced Wednesday (June 22) that Italian customers can now complete the shopping and buying process online, prompting some observers to refer to it as “the Amazon of the used car market,” per the press release.
So far, Cazoo’s website for Italy lists 875 cars for sale. Prices range from a Peugeot 108 listed for the equivalent of $8,021 to a Mercedes GLC for the equivalent of $45,427.
In its other markets, Cazoo lists 7,698 cars for sale in the United Kingdom, 2,286 cars in Germany, 1,838 cars in France and 551 cars in Spain.
Cazoo purchases and then reconditions cars before selling them. Delivery of a car can take “just a few days” after an order is placed, according to the release.
The Cazoo websites offer shoppers details about cars’ features and histories alongside 360-degree images. Customers are allowed to return cars at no charge seven days after receiving them, and cars sold in Italy come with 12-month warranties.
Cazoo was founded in 2018 and already has sold more than 75,000 cars, according to the company. Cazoo acquired Italy’s brumbrum, a similar business, in January, and Cazoo founder and CEO Alex Chesterman said brumbrum “has now been fully integrated into Cazoo.”
The Italy announcement comes two weeks after Cazoo announced what it called a “business realignment plan” that included layoffs.

In announcing the cut of about 750 positions, Cazoo stated: “The Company is not immune to the rapid shift in the global economy and the possibility of a recession in the coming months. As a result, management’s expectations for the full year are now more cautious, reflecting the weaker and uncertain external environment.”
Key to the plan, the company stated, is conserving cash.
